Long story short, I gave up on developing my own Perl content management system. It was quite an interesting concept. I really liked having the ability to control every single aspect, but it was very time intensive and there are much more robust systems out there. Not to mention that I was planning to essentially rewrite all of the code that took me roughly a week of non-stop coding to finish.
